RVCU Becomes Official Financial Literacy Partner for Huskie Student Athletes
DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University Athletics, through NIU multimedia rights holder Van Wagner, on Saturday (April 26) announced a new, five-year partnership with Rock Valley Credit Union, making the local and independent financial institution the exclusive credit union of NIU Athletics and the official financial literacy partner for Huskie student-athletes.
Fans will see the Rock Valley Credit Union logo painted on the east and west sidelines of Brigham Field throughout the length of the partnership. The RVCU logo will debut at the 2025 NIU Spring Showcase on the northeast and southwest sides of the playing field.
“We are pleased to welcome Rock Valley Credit Union as our new credit union partner and excited about the impact this relationship can have on our department while also directly benefiting our student-athletes through increased educational opportunities and financial programming,” Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Sean T. Frazier said. “It is important in this day and age of NIL, collectives and contracts, that young people receive information to help guide their financial decision-making, making this partnership even more valuable.”
Rock Valley Credit Union, with local branches in Loves Park, Machesney Park and Rochelle, has offered personal solutions for individual and family banking needs in the region since 1968. As part of the partnership with the Huskies, RVCU’s more than 15,000 members will have opportunities to engage with NIU Athletics through exclusive experiences.
“When we first sat down with NIU Athletics to talk about partnering, it felt like fate—our brand colors and mascots are practically twins,” said Darlyne Keller, President and CEO of Rock Valley Credit Union. “Beyond the fun similarities, what really clicked for us was the alignment of our missions.
“At RVCU, we’re all about educating, building relationships, serving our members and communities, and realizing growth, and NIU’s mission to empower students through education and experiential learning is right in line with that. We’re both excited about what we can achieve together: making a lasting impact on the NIU community by helping students better understand their finances, plan for the future, and build a solid foundation for financial well-being.
“Any chance we get to live out our mission and make a difference in our communities is a win. It’s what drives us as a credit union, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with NIU to make it happen.”
In 2024, RVCU received several prestigious awards, including Best Credit Unions to Work For by American Banker, Best Places to Work in Illinois and Best Places to Work in America.
